I am still in the process of learning about municipal broadband, but what I’ve learned so far fascinates me.
The City of Chattanooga, Tennessee created its own municipal broadband utility that is very successful and popular. Consumer Reports recently did a nation-wide survey of broadband providers. CR gave Chattanooga’s municipal broadband the very highest rankings, along factors such as reliability and low cost.
More locally, the City of Longmont runs a municipal broadband that is quite popular with residents, along these same factors of cost and reliability. When I see residents in other cities getting good results, low costs, and high reliability from municipal broadband, I’m intrigued. Is Longmont eclipsing Boulder as the Boulder County leader in this area?
